In the 1960s, Sir Hardy Amies was directly involved in creating costumes for Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey. His work – all block colours, simple square cuts and off-kilter details – was central to giving the film its oddly timeless futurism.
